We did not want any confusion between the blog “My Cherokee Garden” and the Cherokee Garden at Green Meadows Preserve. The blog will feature many of the Cherokee plants that I have in my personal garden and many of the plants that I plan to include in the garden. It is also an educational blog about how important the native plants were for the survival of the Cherokee.
The Cherokee Garden at Green Meadows Preserve is a joint venture between the Cobb County Parks Department, Cobb County Master Gardeners, and Trail of Tears Association. I feel so fortunate that these wonderful orgainizations have embrace my idea for a public garden that is dedicated to preserving the culture of the Cherokee prior to the Trail of Tears. Although I am very involved in the Cherokee Garden, the blog is an entirely separate entity.
